+

New Jersey came out of the gates flat against Blue Jackets. In the first period NJ was outshot 14-4 and displayed little competence in their #4 ranked power play in the league. In his first game back, Patrik Elias has logged 5:12 of ice time and made an appearance on the second PP unit. The Devils start the second period with an extended power play and will look to capitalize on it.

Devils fall 3-2 in Calgary

+

Disappointing loss for the Devils who didn't play well enough to deserve points tonight. Credit to the Flames who were solid defensively most of the game , which made it difficult for the Devils to connect on passes or convert on scoring chances. Schneider played just ok, which is far bellow his standards which didn't help the Devils efforts as well. A bright spot in this dim loss comes again on the Devils power play which was ranked 8th in the NHL heading into tonight and clinched another PP goal off of Tootoo's stick in the second period. The Devils next game is this Friday in Edmonton to face off against the Oilers.

Devils lose 2-1 vs. Islanders

+

It was a tough loss for NJ who seemed to have stolen a point from a third period Zajac goal. However, Casey Cizikas had different plans and with less than 3 minutes left in the third period he scored a go ahead goal to secure the Islanders a win. Zajac notched his 5th goal of the season and Gelinas was credited the apple for his 3rd point of the year. One bright spot of the game was the continued strong play of Kyle Palmieri on the Devils power play. The Jersey native leads the team with 6 power play points (2g-4a) and has 5 pts (2g-3a) in the last four games. The Devils will look to regroup against the Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks this Friday at the Rock.
