Ilkka Pikkarainen put on waivers; would report to Lowell on Friday

per Gulitti. It's too bad; I'd certainly rather see him on the roster than Peters, and he seemed to be making progress adjusting to the NHL game until recently. His cap hit is at $500K so I wouldn't be surprised if someone picks him up.

SBN Hockey Roundtable Part 2

I took part in a 2 hour roundtable chat with Joe Fortunato, Cassie McClellan, Dirk Hoag, Derek Zona, and and moderated by Brandon Worley. Injuries, suspensions, and Kovalchuk were among the discussions. I'd like to note the chat was before the 3-1 loss to Colorado on Saturday, hence my comment about the Devils not losing two in a row. Incidentally, Part 1 is here.

Elias to IR, Corrente to Lowell

I'm guessing it's a concussion though no one wants to admit it. Editor's Note: You're sort of right. The word is concussion symptoms, according to Lou as reported by Gulitti. Not the same thing, but the Devils are wise to play it safe all the same. Patrick Davis and Nick Palmieri have been called up in the meantime.

Wild's Sykora on Waivers

Another end to a former Devil and cup champion (at least until someone else claims him or he goes to play in the Euro leagues). Do I want him on the Devils? Not sure. Probably not, but I am wondering how others may feel. He might be an injury risk and not sure we even have a place for him. I'm also not sure how he played in the playoffs with the Pens last season. Wow, can I bring any less to this post? John, as always, if this is a repeat post or in the wrong section or just shouldn't be in ILWT, delete away.

Welcome: Jewels From The Crown (LA Kings)

It's been a while, but SBN NHL has finally added their 30th team-specific blog: Jewels from the Crown. It's all about the Los Angeles Kings, a joint effort of Kings bloggers Connie Kim and Quisp. So go say hello and be sure to smile, you can go back to frowning about the recent play of the Devils here.

Time Out NY: Devils Retro Green Jersey Tease!

Time Out NY just did an article and photoshoot with Vampire Weekend where they dressed them as Hockey players. Producer and keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij was wearing a retro green/red NJ Devils jersey which at first I thought was the jersey that was to be unveiled on St. Patrick's day. But alas it is just an actual vintage Red/Green jersey upon closer inspection. Even more curios is why the shoot which I imagine is supposed to have all 4 band members representing different jerseys from the greater NY area teams would then have someone in an Albany River Rats jersey rather than a Buffalo Sabres one. I knew it was too good to be true to think the Devs had the marketing acumen to unveil the jersey in such away. But at least the hype will now build for whenever we are first able to lay our eyes on the new Green/Red sweaters.

Devils announcement for Free Ticket for those at 1/8/2010 postponed game

I found this out during the Rangers-Devils game. The recap will be up shortly. The official site has all the details on how to be compensated for a free ticket for the postponed game on 1/8/2010. The only group this doesn't really favor are the full STHs. But if you're unhappy, there's an e-mail address where you can send your questions/complaints. Be polite, if you use it.
