Devils lose 3-2 in Shootout

Cory Schneider was the main reason the Devils salvaged a point against the Leaf's tonight. Power Play goals by Palmieri and Stempniak kept the Devils within striking distance, but not enough to win. More concering is the injury to Adam Henrique who left the game in the second period and did not return to the game. This would be a major blow to NJ as Henrique leads the team in goals this year and was clearly missed on the ice in the third period. Devils next game is home this Friday night against the Red Wings.

Devils take down Panthers, win 4-2

New Jersey defeats the Florida Panthers 4-2 tonight in Newark. This snaps a 0-2-2 home losing streak NJ came into the game riding. Only 9 shots were registered in the last 40 minutes for NJ, but they still managed to score two goals in that frame. Adam Henrique had three points (1g-2a) and is now at seven multipoint games on the season. Cammalleri and Severson also registered multipoint games (1g-1a) and (2a) respectively. Although he has not yet scored a goal, Severson's puck movement has made him an important piece on the Devils blue line. He is well on pace to almost double last seasons point total (9pts in 25 games). Schneider came up big again for the Devils on a penalty shot taken by Jonathan Huberdeau, to keep the game under control. NJ is on the ice next in Toronto on Tuesday, where they will play against long time Devils GM and Team President Lou Lamoriello. Lamoriello is a competitor and will like nothing more than to hand a loss to his old team.

Devils deliver payback win 3-2 in OT

After giving up a two goal lead the night before to the Canadians at 'The Rock', the Devils return the favor tonight at 'The Bell'. Patrik Elias lead off the comeback with his first goal of the year that was assisted by Larsson and Zajac. It wasn't until 22 seconds remaining in the third period when Kyle Palmieri tied it up with an empty net goal assisted by Moore and Henrique. In the 3v3 OT the Devils improved to a perfect 4-0 in games that are decided in OT. John Moore taps in his own rebound after Henrique dished him off the helper on a breakaway. Henrique's efforts in the game improve his point streak to a season high four games (3g-2a-5p). NJ took 3 out of 4 possible points from the Canadians in this home and home series. Devils lose 3-2 in shootout

A two goal lead was not enough to secure a point for the Devils tonight. Henrique notched his 11th goal of the season and extends his current goal streak to three games. The other goal scored tonight, was Lee Stempniak's 5th of the season. Patrik Elias tallied his first point of the season in his second game back with the team on Stempniak's goal. Although blowing a two goal lead is tough to swallow, salvaging a point from a top tier team like Montreal isn't the worst possible outcome. New Jersey will be on the ice next against the Avalanche this Tuesday at the Rock.

Controversial calls result to a 2-1 lose

Devils lose a tough one this Thanksgiving Eve vs. the Blue Jackets. A game full of missed chances, controversial decisions by the referees, and a "waved off" goal; hand the Devils their third lose in four games. To their credit, John Hynes had this team showing off their resilience again tonight. The Devils bounced back strong after a weak first period and out played the Blue Jackets the rest of the game. The usuals, Schneider, Henrique, and Cammalleri all had strong games again tonight as well. Bobrovsky was fortunate enough to hear the metal ping of his best friend three times, as the Devils kept finding the post but not the net. The most memorable moment of the game came on a phantom whistle call that retroactively stopped play before Adam Henrique could score. The on ice officials claimed a whistle should have been blown because of Columbus' player (Campbell) gaining possession during a delayed penalty. Although it never appeared that Campbell had possession of the puck, Henrique's goal did not count and the Devils ended up falling to Columbus by one. Devils look to shake this one off on Friday night against the Habs.

Phantom whistle nullifies goal

What seemed to be Henriques second goal of the night was ruled a no goal. Although on TV no whistle was heard, the on ice officials claimed Columbus had possession of the puck on a delayed penalty which stopped play before Henrique scored. This is by far the toughest break NJ has had in a game that has been full of them.

2-1 after the second period

Henriques goal tied the game for awhile, but Calvert of Columbus put CBJ back on top with less than two minutes less in the period. NJ has been peppering the pipes and crossbar tonight but can't seem to find the fabric.

Henrique nets the equalizer

Adam Henrique quickly erases the bad taste the last Devils power play left. Henriques goal was his 10th of the season and first for the Devils tonight. Cammalleri picks up the lone assist on the goal.

Featured Fanshot

Devils down 1-0 against Columbus

New Jersey came out of the gates flat against Blue Jackets. In the first period NJ was outshot 14-4 and displayed little competence in their #4 ranked power play in the league. In his first game back, Patrik Elias has logged 5:12 of ice time and made an appearance on the second PP unit. The Devils start the second period with an extended power play and will look to capitalize on it.

Devils fall 3-2 in Calgary

Disappointing loss for the Devils who didn't play well enough to deserve points tonight. Credit to the Flames who were solid defensively most of the game , which made it difficult for the Devils to connect on passes or convert on scoring chances. Schneider played just ok, which is far bellow his standards which didn't help the Devils efforts as well. A bright spot in this dim loss comes again on the Devils power play which was ranked 8th in the NHL heading into tonight and clinched another PP goal off of Tootoo's stick in the second period. The Devils next game is this Friday in Edmonton to face off against the Oilers.
