The Song of the Night: I have to admit that I am someone who just likes to dabble in various heavy music genres. This is my rationalization for not sitting down to listen to a whole Agnostic Front album until recently. Agnostic Front is a very important band in the history of hardcore, especially in NYC. They came out of the first wave of punk and hardcore out of NYC, influenced the second; more metallic second wave in the late 1980s as Agnostic Front charged into crossover thrash, had a very successful reunion in the 1990s; and continued to influence hardcore in so many ways from who they toured with, what labels they were on, how they played, who joined their albums and even their family as Roger Miret’s cousin is Freddy Circien, who founded Madball and their first record was effectively an Agnostic Front record as it had Miret and Stigma. And Roger Miret and Vinny Stigma are still playing. Anyway, from their iconic first album, which actually had something resembling production value and musicianship, Victim in Pain, this is one of the many crucial Agnostic Front songs: “Your Mistake.” Does it apply to the opponent in some way? Definitely maybe.
