Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt combined for a delightful overtime winner, and the Devils took a 2-1 win over the Bruins on Wednesday. [Devils NHL]
Pretty incredible what Hughes is doing off-the-rush this season - generating offense at level nobody else is close to.— Mike Kelly (@MikeKellyNHL) December 14, 2023
He's averaging 2.1 rush chances per game - Pastrnak is next closest at 1.5. Last season Hughes was 2nd in the league at 1.5.

More John Gibson talk:
Per source, NJHN has learned that #NJDevils GM Tom Fitzgerald has re-engaged in John Gibson.— James Nichols (@JamesNicholsNHL) December 13, 2023
The Ducks are in town this week to play the Isles, Rangers, and Devils.
“As for Gibson, who comes with a $6.4 million AAV through the 2026-27 campaign and a 10-team no-trade list, he will be a target for a team in need of a pure No.1 netminder Like last season, Anaheim is willing to listen, but it’s going to take a significant package to pry Gibson from Orange County. A returning suspect may be the New Jersey Devils. From the outside looking in, it’s an obvious solution to New Jersey’s questions in net, but if (Ducks GM Pat) Verbeek and Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald have had any conversations on the subject, it hasn’t entered the serious stage.” [The Fourth Period]
“The owner of the Washington Wizards and Capitals has reached a nonbinding agreement to move the teams from downtown D.C. to a future arena in Northern Virginia as soon as 2028, shaking the regional sports landscape and teeing up sharp debate among local and state lawmakers who could make or break the deal.” [The Washington Post]
“Zach Parise is ramping up his conditioning with an eye on returning for a 19th NHL season, a league source told The Athletic.” [The Athletic ($)]

Darren Dreger: “The National Hockey League, Gino, has offered a North American city to house the hockey portion of the Olympics in 2026. Now, this is unlikely going to happen. We know that the pressure is on Italy, they’re trying to get their main venue completed in time for the Games. They’ve also got another satellite venue that’s available to them, perhaps they pick another Italian city if the main venue isn’t ready, like Torino. The National Hockey League has made this offer before, it’s never been accepted. So again, doubtful, but possible. The offer has been made.” [TSN]
