Garden State of Hockey- Episode 104: The Postseason Begins

We catch up on some Devils housekeeping and discuss the excitement of round 1 of the NHL Playoffs.

It has been a while since the last episode but the first round of the NHL Playoffs delivered as usual and we recorded this episode before Toronto’s latest postseason snafu. I know we’re in glass houses throwing stones here but I would not want to be a fan of that team after losing four straight winner-take-all games in the postseason.

Elsewhere, we check in on the former Devils participating in the playoffs on each team and the implications of each series on New Jersey’s potential draft picks. We also check in on some current Devils playing in Latvia at the World Championships right now. American hero Matt Tennyson continues to lead the way for the red, white, and blue while a surprisingly inept Team Canada fights for its knockout round life. It’s all still to play for and truly feels like any team can win in this strange year of hockey.

The draft lottery is tomorrow so we’ll see if the Devils get lucky once again in a year where it matters way less. No matter the result, they should be able to add a pretty solid player to their already blossoming prospect pool.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow and Let’s Go Devils.
