Tyce Thompson tallied an assist in his NHL debut on Tuesday night against the Sabres, but that’s about all that was memorable about this one. The Devils couldn’t hold on to leads, and the Sabres won, 5-3. Both Kyle Palmieri and Taylor Hall sat in anticipation of trade deadline deals. [NHL] [All About the Jersey] [NJ.com]

Elliotte Friedman on Kyle Palmieri: “Palmieri was with New Jersey at its Tuesday-morning skate. He and the Devils simply are not close on an extension, so we are where we are. I’m imagining a poker game with (Kevyn) Adams, Tom Fitzgerald, Lou Lamoriello and several other GMs trying to bluff each other over the same players and similar trade scenarios.” [Sportsnet]

For what it’s worth: Over at The Fourth Period, David Pagnotta reports not so surprisingly, that there’s a bit of interest out there for Devils players, including Kyle Palmieri (duh), Dmitry Kulikov, Ryan Murray and Aaron Dell. [The Fourth Period]
