The Penguins finished off the three-game sweep of the Devils on Saturday with a 4-2 win. The good guys pulled within a goal, and Nico Hischier came thisclose to tying the game late and forcing overtime, but alas. [NHL] [All About the Jersey] [NorthJersey.com] [NJ.com]
The Devils managed to keep the losing streak (now at 10!) alive in excruciating fashion on Sunday, by blowing a 3-1 lead late to the Flyers. And even with a power play opportunity in overtime, the Devils went on to fall to the Flyers in a shootout, 4-3. [NHL] [All About the Jersey] [NorthJersey.com]
Despite the disaster that this season has been, there are some glimmers:
Jack Hughes's WOWY's are bananapants. A 16% offensive swing and a 14% defensive one. Devils this year have been two completely different teams in Hughes shifts vs non-Hughes ones. pic.twitter.com/n6RtCfWF6A

Big Jack Hughes guy. One of the best forwards in the league transitioning the puck. Great playmaker and still scratching the surface of what he will be. #NHLonTheFly https://t.co/a1Ghz9vY7P pic.twitter.com/2J2oaffjyy

Elliotte Friedman reports that it’s still possible that the 2021 women’s world hockey championship might yet take place this summer after the last-minute cancellation of the event in Nova Scotia. [Sportsnet]
With no emergency backup goaltenders this year and two injuries in Ottawa’s game on Saturday, forward Artem Anisimov was prepared to make his goaltending debut. [NHL]
