Game Preview #42: Devils vs. Rangers

NHL: New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Onto the next one.

After a 3-0 loss to the Rangers in their first of four games in a row between the pair, the Devils look to strike back with vengeance and defeat the Rangers in Madison Square Garden.

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (14-21-6) versus the New York Rangers (20-16-6)

The Time: 7:00 PM EST

The Broadcast: TV - MSG +2

While Nico Hischier’s first game back wasn’t perfect, suffice to say, it’s a huge positive for this young Devils team to have their captain back while simultaneously figuring out who on the team can serve as a cornerstone for both the near and distant future.

Jesper Bratt’s point streak gets cut at five with the shutout loss, but wow is he looking good. On the season, Bratt is now at 25 points through 35 games, which would’ve given him 59 points in a full season. Bratt is a legitimately dangerous scoring threat for the Devils, even with only five goals on the season, though that number should only go up as he shoots more and gains even more valuable experience.

Jonas Siegenthaler made his debut for the Devils last game as well, and played like a player acclimating to a new situation. We need to give players like him time, as he fully adapts to the system and his new teammates.

With these quick notes said, let’s hope to kick some Ranger *** tonight! A rebuilding season hurts, but is realistically okay. Losing to the Rangers hurts and is also not okay. Let’s right the wrongs from two days ago, and take game two!

Expected Lines:

Kuokkanen - Hughes - Sharangovich
