Garden State of Hockey- Episode 94: Bratt Gets the Split

Two close matinees led to split results as the Devils won three games in four this week.

NHL: New Jersey Devils at Pittsburgh Penguins Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

A back-to-back matinee weekend in Pittsburgh led to mixed results for the New Jersey Devils. While Saturday’s game was within reach, the special teams could not do enough to bridge the gap. On Sunday, the Devils put together as close to a 60-minute effort as they have all season to get a deserved 2-1 overtime win.

Bratt’s wraparound and chemistry with Zacha were both impressive as the Devils weaved through the Penguins trio for a strong finish. The schedule undergoes its first change in a long time as the team will not have a weekend back-to-back, instead moving to a four games in six days stretch with the back-to-back happening Thursday and Friday against the Capitals. They see the Flyers on Tuesday and look to capitalize on a group that is hemorrhaging goals right now.
