Potential 21-22 realignment

So for fun, since there is not going to be any Devils hockey for a week or two I was thinking about potential 21-22 realignment.

I saw the idea floated on the athletic for the NHL to go with the NFL/MLB style conference system where geography doesn't matter for the conference just the division.

Since the NHL will be hitting the magic number of 32 teams they could do 4 divisions per conference of 4 teams each similar to the NFL. In the playoffs each division winner will be the top 4 seeds with 4 wildcard teams occupying the bottom 4 seeds. The wildcard teams would be the top point earning teams who did not win their divisions. The top 4 and bottom 4 will each be arranged by points earned.

Conference A:

Division A:

TOR

NJD

NYR

Washington

Division B:

Pittsburgh

Columbus

Nashville

Florida

Division C:

Minnesota

Colorado

WPG

CGY

Division D:

Sea

SJS

Anahiem

Arizona

Conference B:

Division A:

NYI

Philadelphia

Boston

MTL

Divison B:

OTT

Buffalo

DET

Carolina

Division C:

CHI

STL

TB

Dallas

Division D:

LAK

VAN

LV

EDM

If you don't like mine feel free to post your own. I do think travel would end up being a bit more fair for the western teams then it is now in this format, plus things would be more interesting. As time has gone on I am less interested in geographic conferences.
