Following news that the Penguins had some vague interest in Tom Fitzgerald for their GM job, Elliotte Friedman pretty well shuts that all down: “New Jersey does not want to let Tom Fitzgerald interview. The Devils consider him an important part of their future, and it sounds like they’re going to address his situation.” Does this mean the team is going to lock up Fitzgerald? It certainly sounds like it. [The Athletic ($)] [Sportsnet]

It seems Tony DeAngelo has played his last game as a New York Ranger. GM Jeff Gorton: “I told him if his name came up in anything at all that he would be on waivers. I felt like I had to stay true to my word, the organization’s word.” [ESPN]
