Nico Hischier said his injury occurred in early December. He was on the ice and someone fell on his foot. He is hoping to be ready for opening night, but is not skating at this time.

Devils coach Lindy Ruff wants to play a few "games" near the end of training camp because his players have been skating and doing drill for months, but most haven't played since March. He said one will hopefully be in the evening as well.
