Devils Links

In this week’s 31 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman links the Devils to the strange split between John Chayka and the Coyotes. He calls the position that Chayka was looking at a “major position in an organization that owns teams in more than one sport,” and says, “The leader in the clubhouse is New Jersey.” Separately, Friedman also says that other finalists for the Devils GM job were Mike Futa and Laurence Gilman. Further to Friedman’s reporting, Canadian journalist Mathias Brunet links Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment to Chayka. Some subtlety may be lost through Google Translate here, but the gist seems to be that Chayka would oversee analytics for the Devils, 76ers and the Mets if the organization’s bid for the MLB team was successful.
