Garden State of Hockey- Episode 45: April 30, 1988

The Devils earn their first berth in the Eastern Conference Finals with a Game 7 triumph over Stevens’s Capitals.

This week we took it back to 1988 and the Devils’ first taste of playoff success. This game featured dominance by John MacLean, Pat Verbeek and Aaron Broten as New Jersey went into Washington and won Game 7. This Washington Capitals team is no joke and has several former and future Devils as this series finally got chippy right at the end and the Devils kept their underdog story alive.

Up next we have another record-setting night for Martin Brodeur as he earned his 48th win of the season against the hated Philadelphia Flyers in 2007:
