The Devils did not have a particularly good stretch of seven games in our brief hiatus from the podcast but they did have a productive one as Mackenzie Blackwood kept on rolling. All of this was of course overshadowed by the trades they made as the deadline approached, starting with Andy Greene and ending with Louis Domingue. Wayne Simmonds, Sami Vatanen and Blake Coleman all became casualties of what is looking like the most over-hyped and under-delivered season in recent Devils history.
For a couple of takes on the Devils overall deadline strategy, here’s John lamenting the arduous process of selling off parts and looking at how the returns may fit in to the Leftovers that are the New Jersey Devils this year. Also, over at The Athletic, Corey Masisak takes a look at how these moves may have improved Tom Fitzgerald’s case for full-time general manager this summer.
No sigh will ever be deep enough. It’s time to play out a difficult March schedule and see who gets to be part of the team as the rebuild continues to take shape.
As always, let us know if you have suggestions for episodes or any questions and as always again, Let’s Go Devils!
