Tonight, the organization honors the twentieth anniversary of the 1999-2000 team that won the Stanley Cup. Hopefully, Our Favorite Team as currently constructed will be inspired enough to hand tonight’s opponent back a Texas-sized ‘L.’
The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils vs. the Dallas Stars (SBN Blog: Defending Big D)
The Time: 7:00 PM ET
The Broadcasts: TV - MSG+, FS-SW+; Digital Audio - The Devils Hockey Network (Radio.com)
The Song for the Evening: As the 2000 Stanley Cup winning team is being honored tonight, then a song from that year is appropriate. Despite the success, the Devils and their fans had to deal with jealous losers and haters, of which there were (are?) many. Whether it was griping about the trap or whining about the trap or grousing about Lou Lamoriello or complaining about the trap, the Devils and the fans had to endure this from sports media and other fans. They could not accept that the Devils were one of the best around. To that end, from the wonderful Veni Vidi Vicious by The Hives, I quote the track’s title: “Hate to Say I Told You So.” Cups speak so much louder than critics anyway.
The Rules: The rules remain the rules regardless of the fact that the Devils are honoring one of the greatest campaigns in franchise history tonight. Please keep your comments clean, legal (read: no streams, no links to streams, no asking for streams, no streams), and all about the games itself. Just as importantly, let’s respect each other. There’s no need for drama or being unwelcoming of your fellow Devils fan. This is a gamethread, let’s focus on the game and the 2000 Stanley Cup winning team. Thank you for reading. Go Devils!
