Today, we check in with the roster announcements of the World Junior Championship as the Devils have six prospects playing for their countries.

We also took today’s episode to start a series on advanced statistics in hockey. Today’s episode is the companion to this primer piece written by John about the Corsi stat. We go over some examples of good and bad Corsi in Devils history as well as breaking down what the stat means, how it’s measured, and some of the drawbacks. Remember, while advanced statistics are a good predictor, they are not all powerful or all encompassing in terms of actual results. However, they can go a long way towards assisting our understanding of the game and the habits and principles that make good teams stay good. We’ll be continuing this series and if any of the examples need clarification or further explanation, be sure to let us know in the comments.

Thanks again for listening and stay warm and healthy out there!
