The Devils put together a strong (albeit at times, surprising) draft class in Tom Fitzgerald’s first draft the the helm of the ship. John wrote a long breakdown of the class as a whole which includes links to each pick of the day. Also, for Corey Pronman’s review of the Devils’ draft ($), head on over to the Athletic. As a spoiler, he rated their performance at the draft as an A- which is promising.

Tom Fitzgerald explicitly mentioned that none of these players would be in the discussion to make the team this season but we should expect to see Holtz as early as next year as he continues to grow in Sweden’s top flight on Jacob Josefson’s wing.

How would you grade the Devils’ draft days? Let us know which prospects you’re most excited about in the comments.

Free agency starts tomorrow so buckle up, we’ll make sure to have all the updates on the newest Devils complete with a podcast discussing the additions next week.

P.S. The Cory Schneider buyout happened after recording but we wish him well and the Melanson firing was truly a harbinger of this after all.
