Well, here’s the bombshell no one saw coming: On Sunday, the Devils announced that ownership and Ray Shero “have agreed to part ways, effective immediately.” Tom Fitzgerald will take over as GM in an interim role and Marty Brodeur will take on a supporting role. [NHL]

The timing of the move is unquestionably odd. Why now? Josh Harris: “We’re just not getting it done. We haven’t been winning. There was nothing really specific, you know the record and everything that’s been done. There were a lot of positives.
