The Devils land two names in this list of top 50 drafted NHL prospects over at The Athletic. The Devils have No.1 (guess who) and No. 40 on the list. [The Athletic ($)]
Connor Carrick on using social media to be a positive influence in the world: “I don’t want to just sit there on my phone all day, scrolling until my thumbs hurt. At the same time, if I can be a positive influence on others, help them live a more inspired life, have a more action-filled life, I think that’s important. Whether you’re a big-name player or not, at some point in our lives, we are all influential people in our hometowns, in our community, or in the city we play in. We can use that to be positive. You just don’t know the exponential growth on the other side of what you ignite. All the people you can touch it’s an amazing thing to think about. I found that really exciting.” [NHLPA]

.@SportChek Player Alert: @MapleLeafs acquire a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and forward David Clarkson from Vegas in exchange for goaltender Garret Sparks.

And here’s why they did it. Click through to this thread for some analysis of the move:
The Clarkson deal is not about acquiring an asset for Sparks, this is a cap move. May seem odd to acquire a $5.25m contract when your team is tight to the cap, but this is purely a LTIR move for the #Leafs to enter the season with Marner unsigned.
