Hypothetical Draft Dilemma

This is my first fan post and it will be relatively short. I decided to make this a fan post because I did not want to use my bored hypothetical question to take away any discourse from the actual articles that our great writers provide. Without further ado, here it is:

Had the Devils drafted Mathew Barzal instead of Pavel Zacha, would the correct choice in this year’s draft be Kakko?

Personally I am extremely Pro Jack Hughes. I think he’s the best option and I know a lot of you do as well. This questions stemmed from my boredom and love of seeing the diverse opinions here at AATJ. I know the philosophy of many is to take the BPA and I tend to agree. However, I began to wonder if having your 1C/2C for the next decade already locked in would sway things in Kakko’s favor. In this hypothetical, us drafting Barzal over Zacha did not change anything else in the new timeline and we still landed Nico. Everything else remains exactly the same except for the two players from the 2015 draft. Also, this post was not meant to revive the "we shouldn’t have picked Zacha" arguments, I truly hate arguing over past events we cannot change. This was a mere thought question meant to ease my boredom until things (hopefully) start to pick up come draft day. I look forward to reading what everyone has to say.
