Gamethread #78: New Jersey Devils at Detroit Red Wings

New, comments

In the first game of the final back-to-back set of the 2018-19 regular season, the New Jersey Devils travel to Michigan to play the Detroit Red Wings. Call it another Tank Game as both teams are near the bottom. Talk about it anyway in the comments of this post.

This is the first game of the last back-to-back set this season. It is very much a Tank Game as both teams have been bringing up the rear in the league standings.

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils at the Detroit Red Wings (SBN Blog: Winging it in Motown)

The Time: 7:30 PM ET

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Digital Audio - The “Devils Hockey Network.” A.K.A. Go to Radio.com or NHL.com for an audio feed.

The Song for the Night: In the 1980s, metal was burgeoning not just in America but also in Europe. Specifically, Germany. The unholy trinity of German speed metal, Kreator, Destruction, and Sodom, were (and are) the big names in that scene. Add Exumer if you want a “Big Four.” Helloween, Blind Guardian, Grave Digger, Rage and Running Wild (among others) were pioneering power metal, a genre that took off further. Tankard has been kicking about for years. And there were smaller groups such as Assassin. They’re definitely for those who were really into the scene as the band initially broke up in 1989 after their equipment was stolen. They still had two albums together and re-united way later. Their first album, The Upcoming Terror, is likely their best known album. “Speed of Light” is the final track from the album and it is a fitting instrumental. Of course, you can click the link and quickly realize why this is the song of the night.

The Rules: The rules remain the rules even though you’re wondering if German thrash is something to look into. If you’re into thrash, then sure, why not? Please keep your comments clean, legal (read: no streams, no links to streams, no asking for streams, no streams), and all about the games itself. Just as importantly, let’s respect each other. There’s no need for drama or being unwelcoming of your fellow Devils fan. This is a Gamethread, let’s focus on the game.Thank you for reading. Go Devils!
