Our Favorite Team returns home for the first of four straight home games. Tonight, they will face off with the leaders of the Metropolitan Division. No one said the home games would be easy. And I’m not sure who wanted this on national television, but this game is on it.
The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils vs. the Washington Capitals (SBN Blog: Japers’ Rink)
The Time: 7:30 PM ET
The Broadcast: TV - NBC SN; Digital Audio - The “Devils Hockey Network.” A.K.A. Go to Radio.com or NHL.com for an audio feed.
The Song for the Night: Can I Say is a seminal album by Dag Nasty. It sort of set the template of what emo would become, although it was a harDCore album through and through with a positive message behind it. The template was more apparent with the second album Wig Out at Denko’s. The band broke up after Can I Say; later Brian Baker and Colin Sears reformed the band with a new singer, Peter Courtner, and bassist, Doug Carrion; and released Wig Out at Denko’s, which was not shy about its changes. It was clear through the first song, “The Godfather,” which still had that explicit underlying message to keep on trying. Don’t sleep on the album. Some bands never make one great album, let alone two.
The Rules: The rules remain the rules even though you’re wondering if you should check out their third album Field Day. My suggestion: Only if you’re really into Dag Nasty and/or Brian Baker. Please keep your comments clean, legal (read: no streams, no links to streams, no asking for streams, no streams), and all about the games itself. Just as importantly, let’s respect each other. There’s no need for drama or being unwelcoming of your fellow Devils fan. This is a Gamethread, let’s focus on the game.Thank you for reading. Go Devils!
