The Song for the Night: The Belke brothers are more famous for their work with Edmonton skate punk legends SNFU. They did try their hand at their own project, Wheat Chiefs. It got enough traction to get an offer from Mercury Records in the 1990s. They turned it down thinking they could get more. They did not. Oops. Their one album Redeemer eventually came out in 1996 and it was eventually pretty OK. The song “Joe Murphy” is a standout for its constant lyric of “You won’t pay me, so I will go.” The group broke up in 1998 and Brent Belke left both this band and SNFU after their Epitaph deal ended.
