Gamethread #44: New Jersey Devils vs. Philadelphia Flyers

New, comments

The New Jersey Devils wrap up a disappointing week with an afternoon contest against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The New Jersey Devils are back to their old ways...no, not the winning ones. After a tough week that saw them drop the last two games of their road trip in Vegas and Buffalo, they returned home only to be outplayed by a superior Toronto Maple Leafs team. Today they will meet a Philadelphia Flyers team that is having a similarly (maybe even more) disappointing season in hopes of stopping the bleeding.

The Flyers come into New Jersey having defeated the Dallas Stars in their last game, and after sending Jordan Weal to Arizona in a trade yesterday. With both of these teams sitting so far out of the playoff picture right now, the most interesting story line could be that the game either stops the Devils’ current losing streak or gives the Flyers back to back wins for the first time in over a month.

The Time: 1:00 PM ET

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Digital Audio - The “Devils Hockey Network.” Head over to Radio.com or NHL.com for an audio feed.

The Song for the Night: Flashing back to the year 2000 (when the Devils had quite a bit more success than they’re having now), today’s song is “Pinch Me” by Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies. With the hopes of last season juxtaposed against the limited success of this season, I find way too many of the lyrics to be useful in summing up parts, if not all of the 2018-19 campaign.

The Rules: The usual set of rules remains in effect before, during and after the game. Please keep the comments clean, legal (read: no streams, no links to streams, no asking for streams, nothing even related to streams), and about the game itself. Make sure to remain respectful to your fellow posters even if you disagree with them. There’s no need for drama or being unwelcoming of your fellow Devils fans.Thank you for reading. Let’s go Devils!
