It was a big weekend. The Devils picked six players in the 2018 NHL Draft, and we covered them all. Hope you followed along. Here’s a great summary from John if you’re looking for the high-level view: [All About the Jersey]

If you were hoping for some excitement in free agency, John Carlson is not willing to oblige. He has re-signed with the Capitals. It’s an eight-year, $64 million deal. [TSN]
John Tavares, however, is giving us a sprinkling of excitement, as he plans to chat with a handful of teams during the interview period before July 1. Who’s in? Who’s out?
Tavares list just about finalized, it appears.

Leafs, Sharks, Stars are in, as mentioned a couple days ago. Believe the Bruins are in as well.
Canadiens and Vegas not on the list as of now.#Isles will get in there too, of course.
Sounds like Tampa and/or Nashville could round out Tavares’ list of visitors starting Monday. Might end up being six teams instead of five, plus #Isles.

The Flames traded Dougie Hamilton, prospect Adam Fox and winger Micheal Ferland to the Hurricanes for center Elias Lindholm and defenseman Noah Hanifin over the weekend. [ESPN]
Ilya Kovalchuk’s long-awaited return will be in the jersey of the Los Angeles Kings. The 35-year-old Russian winger returns on a three-year deal with an AAV of $6.25 million. [ESPN]
Mark your calendar: Feb. 5, 2019, Kovalchuk returns to Newark. Will it be Free Rotten Tomato Night at Prudential Center?

Could Rick Nash make a return to Columbus?
Nash, who turned 34 last week, is looking for a multi-year deal, and Columbus is at the top of his list. But could easily return to Boston or sign elsewhere if he believes he can win a Stanley Cup.
