Taylor Hall had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left hand and will be ready for training camp, Cory Schneider had surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left hip and will need five months to recover, and Patrick Maroon had surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back and would be ready for training camp if the Devils resign him. Keith Kinkaid posted his second straight shutout for Team USA at the World Championships, in a 3-0 win over Germany. [USA Hockey]

The Carolina Hurricanes have named Rod Brind’Amour as the team’s new head coach. Brind’Amour had been an assistant coach with Carolina since 2012. Don Waddell will serve as president and GM of the club. [TSN]

The Caps did it. They finally did it. Washington advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first team in 20 years with a 2-1 win over Pittsburgh. [TSN]
