Hmmm, is this happening? Just chatter?
Take this for the proverbial FWIW, because it’s not what I would term a “report” as much as it is anecdotal — there seems to be a decided uptick in the Lou Lamoriello-to-NYI talk within the NHL community. @DarrenDreger noticed it today in DEN; my sense here in NA is the same.

The Lightning became the first team to advance to the conference finals as they bounced the Bruins in Game 5. Tampa Bay won the game Sunday 3-1. It’s incredibly sad that Brad Marchand’s season is over. [PHT]
Later Sunday, the Golden Knights kept their incredible season of firsts rolling as they finished off the Sharks by a 3-0 score in Game 6. Vegas is heading to the Western Conference Finals. [PHT]
Some perspective:
The @GoldenKnights are the third franchise in NHL history to win multiple series in its inaugural season, joining the Toronto Arenas in 1918 and St. Louis Blues in 1968. #NHLStats #VGKvsSJS #StanleyCup pic.twitter.com/9IIqI8k0s7

With a 6-3 win over the Penguins in Game 5 Saturday, the Capitals are one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals. Will the Caps fall apart again or actually get it done on Monday? [TSN]
The Jets cruised past the Predators in Game 5 on Saturday with a 6-2 win. They’ll have a chance to eliminate Nashville on Monday. [Sportsnet]
