The Matchup: New Jersey Devils (9-9-3) vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning (16-6-1 SBNation; Raw Charge)

The Time: 7:00 PM EST

The Broadcast: MSG+

Tampa Bay’s Stars: Tampa Bay is a star-studded team, with threats from any angle. Nikita Kucherov leads in points, with 30 in 23 games. Brayden Point has 15 goals in 23 games, leading the team. Yanni Gourde and Steven Stamkos both have 21 points, and JT Miller has 18 points. Ryan McDonagh has 17 points on the season, leading for defensemen.

In the last game, the Lightning beat the Blackhawks 4-2. Tyler Johnson scored two, while Brayden Point and Ryan Callahan scored one. With Vasilevskiy injured, Louis Domingue is the starter. He is 7-3-0 with a .901 save percentage. The former Coyote is beatable, and the Devils need to take advantage of Vasilevskiy’s injury.

Devils Leading Scorers: Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri are still the point-per-game players on the Devils. Vatanen, Greene and Severson are the defenders averaging over 20 minutes a game. Both goaltenders are posting below-average numbers, so there is much to improve on. The jury is out on whether this Devils team is playoff-potential, but hopefully it becomes more clear very soon.

Devils Lineup: As of the night before, no updates on the Devils lineup. It is unknown who will start, and more will be updated on the day of.
