Welcome back, Peter DeBoer. And hello to some new-to-NJ faces in teal such as Evander Kane and Erik Karlsson along with Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, NBCSN-deemed Star Joe Pavelski, and the Specter of a Closing Championship Window.

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (2-0-0) vs. the San Jose Sharks (2-2-1; SBN Blog: Fear the Fin)

The Time: 1:00 PM ET

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Digital Audio - The “Devils Hockey Network.” Look, just go to Radio.com, according to this announcement by Entercom (WFAN’s parent company).

The Song for the Day: The Bay Area has a long history of thrash. The East Coast was no slouch and New Jersey’s representative is the long-standing, loud, and heavy Overkill. They never stopped but their last four albums have been standouts and the last three even charted. The first of those three was 2012’s The Electric Age. The opening track is a strong thrash song with a good intro and a fun chorus, “Come and Get It.”

The Rules: The rules remain the rules even when the game is on a Sunday afternoon and you’re rocking out to Overkill. Please keep your comments clean, legal (read: no streams, no links to streams, no asking for streams, no streams), and all about the games itself. Just as importantly, let’s respect each other. There’s no need for drama or being unwelcoming of your fellow Devils fan. This is a Gamethread, let’s focus on the game. Thank you for reading. Go Devils!
