The Devils have made their first round of cuts from training camp, following last night’s 4-1 whistle-fest of a preseason opener.
Devils’ beat reporter Amanda Stein reported the cuts earlier today. Following their names are the junior teams to whom these players will return:
Goaltenders
Evan Cormier (Saginaw, OHL)
Defensemen
Jocktan Chainey (Halifax, QMJHL)
Colby Sissons (Swift Current, WHL)
Forwards
Nikita Popugaev (Prince George, WHL)
Marian Studenic (Hamilton, OHL)
In addition to these cuts, forward Nicolas Guay has also been released from his Amateur Tryout Offer.
As John Hynes indicated last night, these decisions were not at all based on last night’s game.
The Devils’ remaining training camp roster consists of 51 players - 30 forwards, 16 defensemen, and 5 goaltenders.
