Three, two, one, action!

Scene, and part two of the New Jersey-Columbus sequence starts now, and this comes the dramatic scene where the Devils come and steal the fans’ hearts with a high-energy, low-difficulty victory!

Or, and perhaps more likely, 8 losses in a row.

Here’s the preview.

The Matchup: New Jersey Devils (25-28-12) at the Columbus Blue Jackets (41-17-6 SBN; Jackets Cannon)

The Time: 7:00 PM EST

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+, SNE, SNP; Radio - TONJ, WFAN

The Last Devils Game: The Devils were shutout by the Blue Jackets 3-0 on Sunday night. John was evidently upset, talking about how the Devils had no form, made poor passes, shot right into defenders, etc. Before the game, it was announced that Miles Wood and Damon Severson were out with injuries, which made the game only so much more.... fun. The Devils were absolutely slaughtered. If not for Cory Schneider, the Devils scoreline would be much, much worse. The goals were scored by Boone Jenner, his 13th of the year, Oliver Bjorkstrand, his 3rd of the year, and Sam Gagner, his 16th of the year. Bjorkstrand and Gagner also picked up assists. Sergei Bobrovsky got his second consecutive shutout, facing 20 shots.

The Last Blue Jackets Game: Yeah.

The Last Blue Jackets- Devils Game: Mmm.

The Devils Roster: This Devils roster, as many of you know, is probably one of the weakest it’s ever been. Our forward core really only has a few productive forwards, highlighted by the likes of Kyle Palmieri and Taylor Hall, while also featuring complementary pieces in Adam Henrique, Travis Zajac and Miles Wood. Cammalleri is aging, Smith-Pelly is just no good, and the rest of the team is filled with AHL players looking to make an impact, the rookie Zacha, and the underwhelming Beau Bennett.

Defensively, Andy Greene is the top defenseman by far. Damon Severson is still developing, and Jon Merrill has been alright. Personally, I dislike the play of Lovejoy and Moore. Santini is one of our top prospects, and has looked pretty solid defensively. Don’t even get me started on Karl Stollery.

Goaltending - Schneider and Kinkaid. You can judge that on your own.

Our Current Position: Currently, the Devils are the worst team in the Metro, and tied for 4th worst team overall. It’s unlikely that the Devils will fall behind a dreadful Colorado team and a terrible Arizona team, so the goal should be to fall behind the Red Wings, who are only one point behind. Drafting between 3-6 gives a greater opportunity to obtain a top prospect like Liljegren or Hischier. The only chance to get the best of the bunch, Nolan Patrick, is to win the NHL lottery. Looking at this Devils team, it’s clear that the Devils need a little bit of everything. The top prospects in the system are John Quenneville and Michael McLeod, but no one knows how they’ll develop. Defensively, I’d say Josh Jacobs is our best defensive prospect, which shows that the Devils need a top defenseman. If given the choice of Liljegren or Hischier, I think I’d go with Liljegren.

VERY Short Preview: So yeah... I just wrote about this game last Sunday, so not much has changed at all. The only transaction was that TY Hynan was temporarily called up, before being sent down right away again. If you want to read the other preview about Columbus, here you go.

So.... Let me know what you guys think of this game in the comments below. Let’s shoot for a good game, a hard performance, and an 8th loss in a row! Yay! Woe is the life of a Devils fan.
