The Devils continue to stockpile assets as they look to their future. Shortly before the puck dropped in Columbus, the team announced they will send C Vernon Fiddler to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2017 draft pick.

The 36-year old had 1 goal, 2 assists, and was a minus-11 in 39 games for the Devils. He spent his time with New Jersey centering the 4th line as well as on the penalty kill. He missed 19 games in December and January with a lower-body injury.
Fiddler spent his first six seasons with Nashville, then split the next seven between Phoenix and Dallas before signing a 1-year deal with New Jersey for the 2016-17 season.
Your Take
With this move, the Devils will have 10 selections in the 2017 NHL Draft.
What did you think of Fiddler’s stint with the Devils? Do you think a 4th round pick is a good return for the veteran center? Who will step up for NJ on the penalty kill?
