Game Preview: Stars at Devils

NHL: Dallas Stars at New Jersey Devils Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

The Matchup: New Jersey Devils (17-9-5) vs. the Dallas Stars (18-13-1; Defending Big D)

The Time: 7:00 PM EST

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+

Offense Down: Against the Canadiens, the offense wasn’t as hot, and Taylor Hall’s absence was certainly felt. Though the Devils did get 32 shots on goal, it didn’t feel as fluent (They also ran into a hot Carey Price). It’s still unknown as to when he will play, but he is the core of the Devils’ team, so he is needed.

Stars Are Dangerous: As usual, Benn, Seguin and Klingberg are the most dangerous members on this team. Benn has 29 points, Seguin has 28 points, and Klingberg has 27 points. Alexander Radulov is also dangerous, trailing behind by a sliver with 26 points. After that, it’s depth forwards such as Radek Faksa, Mattias Janmark and Devin Shore.

The Stars defense core features the likes of Esa Lindell, Dan Hamhuis and Stephen Johns, which doesn’t really inspire fear into opposing teams. However, the team is average in both aspects, being 15th in goals scored and 11th in goals against in the NHL.

The Stars Last Game: The Stars beat the Islanders 5-2, with Tyler Pitlick scoring 2 goals, and the other scorers being Radulov, Benn and Lindell. Lehtonen was the starting goalie, and he made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Speaking of Lehtonen...: The man is hot right now. On the month, he has a .930 save percentage, and he’s the hot hand right now. It’s likely he’ll start against the Devils.

Devils goalie: Cory Schneider might start again for the Devils, though as of midnight John Hynes is still unsure. We’ll find out again tomorrow.

Minor Transaction: Ryan Kujawinski was traded for Michael Latta, and it’s a very minor, likely AHL trade.

Your Thoughts?: Back to back again, so a short preview. Anyway, let me know what you think the game score will be, and who will score. Let’s hope for a Devils win!
