Gamethread #15: New Jersey Devils vs. Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid returns to the Rock as the Edmonton Oilers visit the New Jersey Devils tonight. It is also WWE night. No chance of a run-in, though. This gamethread is a place where users can discuss tonight’s game as it happens.

Do better against this man in the middle...somehow...please. It is Connor McDavid.

Last week, Connor McDavid made his mark in Alberta. Now, Connor McDavid will try to make his mark in New Jersey. All this and on WWE Night too.

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (9-4-1) vs. the Edmonton Oilers (5-8-1; SBN Blog: The Copper & Blue)

The Time: 7:00 PM ET

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Digital Audio - The One Jersey Network

The Theme for Tonight: It’s WWE night! One of the main men behind WWE’s legacy is composer Jim Johnston. For decades, he was primarily responsible for many of the most memorable themes in wrestling history. The Rock’s theme? Him. The Ultimate Warrior’s theme which teams still use today? Him. Degeneration X? Him. Edge’s first theme? Him. Kurt Angle’s “Medal?” Him. Shawn Michaels’ “Sexy Boy?” Him. Vince McMahon’s iconic “No Chance in Hell?” Him. The Undertaker before the federation went with songs by Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock? Him. I could go on. I won’t. He still contributes here and there to this day. One his most iconic works? When you heard the glass, you knew business was about to pick up. (And JR would tell you.) It would be great if the Devils picked it up too. They can find inspiration in “I Won’t Do What You Tell Me,” the legendary theme for Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The Rules: The rules remain the rules. Please keep your comments clean, legal (read: no streams, no links to streams, no asking for streams, no streams, no streams), and all about the game itself. Other scores are OK, but let's make sure the comments here are primarily about the Devils and this game. Also, let's respect each other, there's no need for drama or unwelcome nature of any sort. This is a gamethread, let's focus on the game. Thank you for reading. Go Devils!
