With a pair of wins, the Devils had a v good weekend.
Among the pleasant surprises this season is Brian Gibbons. In what looks like it’ll be his first full NHL season, he leads the team in goals scored at 5. He was good as the Devils avoided a collapse in a 5-4 shootout win over the Senators on Friday. [Fire and Ice] [NJ.com]
Then the Devils came back and beat the Coyotes 4-3 on Saturday night. New Jersey did lose Marcus Johansson after suffering some sort of an injury during warmups. His status is “day to day,” according to the team. [Fire and Ice] [NJ.com]
Over the weekend, the Devils moved Scott Wedgewood to the Coyotes for a pick:

Why? Well, Coyotes goaltending so far this season (0-10-1) has been … not great:

Considering his team’s glorious 3-7-2 start, Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault finds himself planted firmly on a seat that is warm. Some might say it is a hot seat. [PHT]
Vegas’s handling of its Vadim Shipachyov situation continues to be … baffling. It appears the two sides will be parting ways:
Expectation is that if Shipachyov isn’t traded by as early as tomorrow, contract termination/a return to Russia could happen in short order. https://t.co/emLBWAqHNA
