Preseason is over and the regular season will begin this week. It is a perfect time to indulge in another episode of the New Jersey Devils podcast, Talking Red. David Sarch and I got together earlier this evening to talk about our favorite hockey team. Today’s big news was the 23-man roster being announced. We go over all of that from a defense that I do not think will have much of an issue with a rotation to a forward group where David is pleased Nico Hischier is not (yet) on the top line. We discuss some of the players that did not make the roster like Joseph Blandisi and John Quenneville. We also answer some of your questions, lament a tough Metropolitan Division, be glad about Tom Wilson’s suspension, and even provide a harsh talking point about Miles Wood.

But there’s more than that. David had the pleasure to speak to Rob Vollman, author of the Hockey Abstract series (Hockey Abstract 2017 is available now), to talk about the Devils, analytics, hot topics around the league, and even more. Thanks to Rob Vollman for appearing on TR.

And thanks to David for having me on. While hockey is here - the regular season starts tomorrow - the ways to listen to this podcast remain the same. You can get it directly at the Talking Red website. You can download it from iTunes, Stitcher, or whatever podcasting service you prefer. You can stay right here and stream it at All About the Jersey. This episode is 1:05:57 long and 30.19 MB large.
