On Thursday the New Jersey Devils announced their annual development camp will take place from July 12th to July 18th. While the details are still limited and more will be announced as it gets closer to the start, according to Leo Scaglione Jr., there will again be two 3-on-3 competitions, one Wednesday and one Saturday.

What to Expect

The development camp takes place annually in New Jersey and includes team building exercises, fitness tests and practice with the NHL coaching staff.

According to Devils' Assistant General Manager Tom Fitzgerald, there will once again be a point system for determining the "winners". Last year, according to Tom Gulitti Miles Wood won the competition.

The video below provides the full interview and explanation for the teams' plans.

While the roster hasn't been released, the players expected to attend range from AHL guys to undrafted free agents. This camp will provide the team insight into the players they have developing in different leagues across the world as well as guys who didn't get drafted but deserve another look. We should expect to see most of the Devils' current prospects here including some guys who are young NHLers, similar to Damon Severson attending last year.

Your Take

Who are you excited to see during development camp? What players do you think will stand out and have a shot at winning the points competition? Will any of the guys attending make a strong case for being on the NHL team next year? Let us know your thoughts and as always, thank you for reading.
