Yesterday the home openers for each time were announced and today the Devils released it's full schedule for the the 2016-17 season. As we profiled the openers we made note that the Devils will begin on the road in Sunrise and return home to play Anaheim for the opener. This post will give one takeaway and John will follow up with a more in-depth look at the schedule a little later.
Big Takeaway
New Jersey start a lot of the season on the road, beginning with a Florida trip and a majority of road games being played in the first half of the season. While this may possibly work as a disadvantage, as having a team play on the road usually seems to have, it does provide an advantage later in the year.
The home games in the later half of the season will provide an edge for the team with 9 of 11 games in February being at home and having 19 of the final 31 games, starting in February at home. The final game of the season will be in Detroit Red Wings, marking the Red Wing's final game in Joe Louis Arena.
Your Take
What do you think of the Devils' schedule for the upcoming season? Will the amount of home games later in the season be important for a playoff run? Will the road games in the beginning provide a disadvantage? What games are you looking to attend this season? Let us know your thoughts and as always, thank you for reading.
