Today really begins the active period of the offseason. In addition to the first buyout period being opened, the NHL announced the official order of selection for the 2016 NHL Draft. From this list, here are the nine picks the Devils will have for this year:

To be picked on June 24, 2016:

  • First round - 11th Overall

To be picked on June 25, 2016:

  • Second Round - 41st Overall (11th in round)
  • Third Round - 73rd Overall (originally from Ottawa, 12th in round)
  • Third Round - 77th Overall (originally from Detroit, 16th in round)
  • Fourth Round - 102nd Overall (11th in round)
  • Fourth Round - 105th Overall (14th in round)
  • Fifth Round - 132nd Overall (11th in round)
  • Sixth Round - 162nd Overall (11th in round)
  • Seventh Round - 192nd Overall (11th in round)

Needless to say, it would be mighty helpful if those thirds and fourths turn out to be good picks. Of course, the first rounder is critical for the near (and further) future.

In the same post, the broadcast details were given for both days of the draft. The first round on Friday, June 24, will be airing at 7 PM EST on NBC SN, SportsNet, and TVA Sports. The second through seventh rounds on Saturday, June 25, will be airing on the NHL Network and SportsNet starting at 10 AM EST.

We’re just over a week away from the 2016 NHL Draft. Who do you want the Devils to take? What do you think will happen? Please leave your answers and other thoughts about the draft in the comments. Thank you for reading.
