As reported on the New Jersey Devils' official site, Devils' Executive VP / General Manager Ray Shero announced that both Cory Schneider (G) and Patrik Elias (LW) have undergone successful surgeries.
"On Wednesday, Patrik Elias underwent successful surgery on his right knee. The procedure was performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City by Dr. Riley Williams. We will continue to monitor Patrik’s rehabilitation and progress.
On Tuesday, Cory Schneider underwent successful surgery to repair a core muscle injury. The procedure was performed by Dr. William Meyers of the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia. His expected recovery time is approximately six weeks."
Earlier this season, Elias underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee. It was also successful, but did not prevent him from missing most of the season. He played in just sixteen games in 2015-16, but has not yet decided whether he will return to the NHL next season.
Because Schneider's recovery time is only six weeks, this should not have any effect on the upcoming season, nor his appearance at the World Cup of Hockey (which takes place in September). In 58 games played in 2015-16, he posted a 27-25-6 record with a GAA of 2.15 and save percentage of .924.
