New Jersey Devils Claim D David Warsofsky Off Waivers

After being placed on waivers by Pittsburgh, New Jersey has picked up D David Warsofsky in their first move of NHL Trade Deadline day.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

In their first move of this season's NHL Trade Deadline day, the New Jersey Devils have claimed defenseman David Warsofsky from Pittsburgh. Just yesterday, Warsofsky had been recalled from his conditioning assignment and placed on waivers.

Warsofsky was injured in January after an accidental collision with referee Tim Peel.

Warsofsky had 1 goal in his 12 games with Pittsburgh this season. He played 10 games with the Boston Bruins over the previous two seasons.

Your Thoughts

This brings the Devils up to 8 defensemen, so I find it's unlikely this will be their only move of the day.

What's your take on the Devils' first move today? Do you think Shero and the team have something in mind with this move?

Don't forget, we have an open post up today to discuss the NHL Trade Deadline day at large.
