Ryan Kujawinski had an assist in game 3 as North Bay would eventually sweep Kingston in the opening round of the OHL playoffs. He will face fellow Devils prospect, Joseph Blandisi and Barrie in the next round. Blandisi finished off Barrie's sweep over Belleville with 2 goals and 2 assists over the final 2 games. Ryan Wagman of Hockey Prospectus has this insightful scouting report on Blandisi based on a couple of viewings.

John Quenneville scored the series clinching goal in double overtime for Brandon last Wednesday as they knocked out Brandon Baddock's Edmonton team. Baddock had just one goal in the series.

The college season is over for the Devils prospects but I wanted to take a different look at them with statistics that focus on their offensive production. Obviously, this will be a lot more insightful for the forwards as opposed to the defensemen. TmG% = Team Goals%, TmA% = Team Assists%, TmPt% = Team Points%, TmSH% = Team Shots%, GC = Goals Created, GC/GP = Goals Created per Game, NHLE = NHL Equivalency

It comes as no surprise that Blake Coleman was a huge part of Miami's offense from a goals and shots perspective. He'll shoot from just about anywhere and loves to crash the front of the net. Fellow senior Blake Pietila was an important part of Michigan Tech's offense but wasn't relied on as heavily as Coleman was for his team. The last forward on this list, Alexander Kerfoot sees an obvious dip in his percentage numbers justed based on how much time he missed. His goals created per game was the third highest on Harvard which is a more accurate reflection of how important he was to the team.

Steve Santini isn't a point producer and missed a lot of time so I wouldn't look too much into these numbers for him. Joshua Jacobs was tied for the sixth highest TmA% for Michigan State. Jacobs also led the defensemen in TmSH% which makes sense given that he played a lot of minutes and featured on the PP.

Joey Dudek had a goal and 4 shots over 2 games for Chicago. He now has 4 goals and 2 assists over 12 games for Chicago so the trade seems to have been a good move for him. Unfortunately, Chicago didn't qualify for the playoffs and they have just 3 regular season games left.

Albany won 2 out of 3 games last week to stay alive in the playoff race. They are now in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with 77 points, 4 points back of 8th place Portland. They have an all situation PDO of 99.78% and a 5 game average of 104.66% as they've surprisingly received some solid goaltending performances. Albany's PP went 3/13 on the week while the PK was a perfect 8/8. The PK is 43/45 (95.56%) over their last 12 games.

Injury Update: Pete Dougherty of the Times Union sheds light on Albany's injury situation. Kelly Zajac is out with a hip injury for the rest of the season. Joe Whitney (charley horse) and David Wohlberg (upper body) both missed the weekend games.

Transactions: None.

Wednesday 4/1: Albany lost to Manchester 2-1. Matt Lorito scored an unassisted power play goal for the Devils. Scott Clemmensen made 27 saves on 29 shots as the Devils were outshot 29-15. Albany went 1/4 on the PP and 2/2 on the PK. Here is the gamesheet and highlights:

Friday 4/3: Albany defeated Springfield 1-0 in a shootout. Paul Thompson and the recently recalled Ben Johnson had 4 shots each as the Devils were outshot 32-26. Scott Wedgewood stopped all 32 shots he faced in regulation and did not give up a goal in the shootout. Matt Lorito had the winning goal in the shootout after Thompson and Mike Sislo failed to convert. Albany went 0/3 on the PP and 2/2 on the PK. Here is the gamesheet and highlights:

Saturday 4/4: Albany defeated Binghamton 4-1. Paul Thompson had a hat trick, Scott Timmins had a goal and an assist, and Matt Lorito had 3 assists. Brandon Burlon and Mike Sislo also picked up an assist each. Thompson had 8 shots as Albany outshot Binghamton 37-27. Scott Clemmensen made 26 saves on 27 shots. Albany went 2/6 on the PP and 4/4 on the PK. Here is the gamesheet and highlights:

Tying a Record: Paul Thompson's 32 goals tie him with Chris Minard (2006-07) for the franchise record for goals in a season. Thompson is currently 2nd in the AHL in goals. He leads Albany in pretty most offensive categories such as goals, points, primary points, shots, shots per game, goals created, goals created per game, even strength goals and points, and even strength goals created and goals created per game.

A Mini Resurgence: Scott Clemmensen has been solid over his last 8 games played for Albany with a .942 SV% and 6 quality starts during that time.

Productive When Healthy: Scott Timmins currently has the third highest points per game (0.68) and goals created per game (0.26) rates of any ADevil with at least 30 games played.

Coming Up: Albany takes on Binghamton on Friday, Hartford on Saturday, and Worcester on Sunday. They have just 6 games left in the season.

Myles Bell remains out injured for Evansville while Mike Keenan and Ben Johnson were up with Albany. Eric Baier had a goal and 3 shots over 3 games for Orlando. Alexandre Carrier managed 2 penalty minutes in 3 games for Orlando. Maxime Clermont made 33 saves on 36 shots in an overtime loss in his only start for Orlando.

Prospect of the Week

Joseph Blandisi is the clear choice for prospect of the week. He had 2 goals and 2 assists over the last 2 games of Barrie's series sweep over Belleville. He has an impressive 4 goals and 5 assists in just 4 playoff games. He is currently tied for 7th in OHL Playoff scoring but all of the players above him have played at least one more game than him. Combining his regular season and playoff games, he is on a 14 game scoring streak with 10 goals and 14 assists during that stretch.

ADevil of the Week

Matt Lorito picks up this week's honors after notching a goal and 3 primary assists over 3 games for Albany last week. In a very small sample size he has a solid 2.29 shots per game rate to go along with a normal 12.5 SH%. His 0.32 goals created per game is the same as fellow undersized scorer, Joe Whitney, though I stress again this just after 7 games played. Lorito seems to be showing that he belongs in the AHL and deserves regular playing time. It will be interesting to see what he can accomplish next year. I'm still skeptical of him being more than a solid minor league player but it's great to see him taking advantage of this opportunity.

Your Take

What are your thoughts on Lorito? Which prospect (and team) do you think wins the Kujawinski vs. Blandisi series? What do you think about Coleman's importance to Miami and do you think his game will translate to the pro's? Leave your comments below and thank you for reading!
