The New Jersey Devils have announced the retirement of franchise goaltender Martin Brodeur's No. 30, via live stream on their NHL.com site. Brodeur joins Scott Stevens (#4), Ken Daneyko (#3), and Scott Niedermayer (#27) as the fourth player in franchise history to have his number retired.
The number will be raised into the rafters on Tuesday, February 9th, before the Devils' game against the Edmonton Oilers. In addition to the jersey retirement, Devils' owner Josh Harris, announced that a statue of Martin Brodeur will be built outside the Prudential Center.
The Devils are selling packs of tickets to celebrate each of Brodeur's three Stanley Cup wins with the team. Each pack includes a ticket to the retirement night game, as well as a ticket to three games against teams the Devils faced in their run to the Stanley Cup that season. A limited edition puck is also included with purchase. These ticket packs can be purchased through the Devils' site.
