New Jersey Devils Podcast Talking Red: Episode #175

The New Jersey Devils won two games. Mark Fraser has made it back into the NHL. David Sarch and John Fischer bring up the draft lottery, the trade deadline, CapGeek, and so much more. All this on this week's Talking Red.

A new year has begun.  Wins - yes, wins as in the plural - were earned by the New Jersey Devils in this past week. We entered a New Era of Mark Fraser.  Talking Red remains a New Jersey Devils podcast, hosted by David Sarch and I am on it once again.  We discuss the wins.  We discuss the two losses between the wins.  We answer plenty of questions from the lottery to the All-Star Game.  And, yes, we even spend some time answering the question: Mark Fraser or Seth Helgeson?  Those are the questions that you just don't get on most podcasts.  (And I punted it, so whatever.)

We also touch on the loss of one of the most important resources online: CapGeek. While I discussed it on the show, it's worth mentioning here.  CapGeek was founded and directed by Matthew Wuest.  As of last night, it was put on permanent hiatus due to Wuest's health getting worse.  It was more than just a place with salary cap information. It was a site that featured reserve lists, contract details for every single NHL contract in the league, buyout and waiver eligiblity calculators, UFA lists, CBA details, and so much more. It was more than just a site for the fans, but it was used by the media and teams themselves.  Out of all of this, Wuest was impressively responsive so if something didn't seem right or needed clarification, he would make the effort to make it right and/or make the site better.  Now, it's more important that Wuest tries to get better.  For all that, I can only say thank you.

That being said, the methods to listen to this week's episode remain the same.  You can go to the Talking Red website and get it from there. You can go to iTunes or Stitcher and find the show there. You can even stay here and listen to a stream of it. Whichever way you choose, this week's episode is 53:17 long and roughly 24.39 MB large.

Please leave your thoughts about this week's episode in the comments or tell David directly on Twitter: @TalkingRed.  Thanks to David for having me on this week.  Thank you for listening.
