Ryan Kujawinski had a great first week with North Bay, scoring three goals and an assist in three games. He is currently on a four game scoring streak with four goals and two assists during that time and is inching closer to a point per game clip. Connor Chatham played two games for Plymouth last week, adding a goal and an assist in a win over Kujawinski's new team, the North Bay Battalion. Chatham has six points over his six games since returning from injury.

John Quenneville finally broke a six game scoring drought with a goal in a winning effort for Brandon on Sunday. As expected he played in all situations for the Wheat Kings but seems to have found himself as the third line LW. The WHL from Above blog has been keeping track of line ups and according to them Quenneville has been LW on a line with Nolan Patrick and Jayce Hawryluk for the past few games. Prior to that he was LW on the second line with Reid Duke and Peter Quenneville for eleven games.

Ryan Rehill added an assist over two games for Kamloops last week. According to the line ups at WHL from Above, he's been anchoring the top pair with sixteen year old Dawson Davidson. Prior to that he was on the top pair with Patrik Maier, an eighteen year old rookie, for a handful of games. Rehill certainly seems to be playing a lot of minutes for a bad team and is doing so as a veteran paired with less experienced players.

Brandon Baddock added a goal and two assists in three games for the Oil Kings last week. He is currently fifth on his team in scoring. According to the WHL from Above blog, he recently centered the second line with Luke Bertolucci and Edgars Kulda on his wings. Prior to that he had been centering a line with Bertolucci and Brandon Ralph.

Anthony Brodeur made his first start for Drummondville last Wednesday and picked up a win despite giving up four goals.

Blake Coleman did not score or register any points in two games for Miami against St. Cloud State. He has now fallen to below a point per game pace as he does not have any goals in his last seven games. Over that time he has just two assists. Blake Pietila has also struggled to find points as he was held off the scoresheet in two games for Michigan Tech against Northern Michigan. He has gone three games without a point and has just two goals over his last sixteen games. At least both of the Blakes are still doing strong in the faceoff circle (Coleman 65.70%, Pietila 62.09%).

Alexander Kerfoot remained out of action for Harvard with an upper body injury but Steve Santini did make his return to the ice for Boston College following wrist surgery. In his first game since 10/25, Santini added an assist, a shot, and six penalty minutes as Boston College extended their unbeaten streak to seven games.

Joshua Jacobs played in Michigan State's exhibition match against the USNTDP U18 squad. MSU won the match 4-1 and Jacobs had a +1, with a shot, and three blocks.

Artur Gavrus remains out with some sort of injury for Dinamo Minsk. He hasn't played for them since 12/14.

Joey Dudek added an assist to his totals over two games last week for Dubuque. He now has three points over his last four games. Miles Wood continues to dominate his league, as he should, and is now up to four goals and eight assists in six games.

Bell, Carrier, and Clermont have all remained in Albany over the past week.

Prospect of the Week

The resurgance of Ryan Kujawinski has been one of the bright spots in Devils prospect action this season. With three goals and an assist for his new club, he's the clear choice for this week's honors. I wrote before this season that I wanted to see him finish comfortably above a point per game clip as a 19 year old and now it seems possible after a slow start. Kujawinski had just 5 goals and 2 assists over his first 15 games. In his most recent 15 games he has 11 goals and 9 assists. His move to a better team should help him get more chances to contribute offensively. According to CHL Stats, his estimated TOI is around 27.27 - which seems like it may be a bit high, but the point remains he will have a lot of time to showcase his skill over the rest of the season.

ADevil of the Week

This week's honors go to Paul Thompson as he had 2 assists and 15 shots over three games. He is currently third in the AHL in both goals (17) and shots (122). He's been having such a great year he's even scoring goals when he's not playing. According to Quant Hockey his points per game rate of .886 is above the 95th percentile while his goals per game rate of .486 is above the 99th percentile. He's having a career year and it is well deserved as he has put up a 3.49 shots per game rate but his 13.93 SH% is inflating things a bit. I'm curious to see how he does the rest of the year as he only shot at 8.90% in his AHL career prior to this year while averaging 2.19 shots per game. Below is a table which shows how this season compares to his previous ones

It seems that he is really benefiting from playing in a larger role and getting some puck luck. With that said, if he keeps contributing, you have to wonder if he'd get a shot with NJ if they opened up a spot (both on the roster and reserve list) if they trade someone like Michael Ryder around the deadline.

Prospects on TV

-- Michigan State (Jacobs) will take on Penn State on Saturday 1/17 at 5:00 PM ET on ESPNU. I'm interested in seeing how he's deployed as a young defender on a struggling team.

Your Take

What are your expectations for Kujawinski the rest of the way? Do you expect Quenneville to start scoring again now that he finally got a goal to end his drought?
