2/21 Prospect Update - A slow week as Albany goes without a win

A look at the stats and play of New Jersey Devils prospects last week.

Spoiler Alert - it was not the most exciting week for the New Jersey Devils' prospects. Not many goals were scored, not many games were won, and no one had a stand out week. On that note, there is some news coming out of the past week of play. Keep reading to see how everyone did (other than not so well) and check out a few updates on individual players.

Notes:

  • Reid Boucher had two goals this week. He now has ten games left this season to break the Steven Stamkos record of 58 goals in one season for the Sarnia Sting.
  • Maxime Clermont had the best week of the goaltenders. In three games he let in only four goals and went 2-1. The other three goalies went without a win.

Albany Notes:

  • Jacob Josefson was sent down to Albany last week. He scored in his first game back with the team.
  • Andrei Loktionov was called up in Josefson's place. He took Jacob's spot centering the fourth line.
  • There was a very scary moment in Saturday's game - Mattias Tedenby was cut from his ear to his chin by the skate of an Adirondack defenseman. He had surgery and was released from the hospital within a few days. He will be fine, but injuries such as this are terrifying. Poor kid can't catch a break.
  • Albany lost all three games they played last week - two in regulation and one in the shootout.

Prospect Spotlight:

There wasn't much of a standout this week but I will give props to Steve Zalewski and Reid Boucher. Both had two goals and an assist this week. It doesn't sound like much for Boucher after the tear he has been on, but it was Zalewski's eighth and ninth goals of the season.
