Notes:

  • Graham Black and Reece Scarlett had successful weeks with the Swift Current Broncos. In five games, Black had two goals and four assists while Scarlett had five assists.
  • Reid Boucher continued to tear it up for the Sarnia Sting. He now has 49 goals in 55 games. Even more impressive, Boucher is just nine goals shy of the single season goal record set by Steven Stamkos (58) with fourteen games remaining in the season. He is scoring .89 goals per game - if he keeps up that pace he is set to hit the 61-goal mark by the end of the season. I must say it is exciting reading about a Devils prospect being compared to Steven Stamkos!
  • Jon Merrill got his first goal of the season in his eleventh game back for the Wolverines.

Albany news:

  • Matt Anderson was named the AHL player of the week. He had three goals and four assists in Albany's three game winning streak last week. Congratulations to him!
  • Albany's 3 game winning streak ended with a 6-0 loss to Syracuse Crunch last night.
  • Albany had two come from behind wins last week with a 4-3 win over Syracuse and a 3-2 shootout win over Binghamton.
  • After just three games with Albany, Andrei Lokitionov was called up to the Devils Tuesday.
  • Last week, Albany signed Stefan Stepanov from Russia. There are no stats for him available on him yet. I will give an update as soon as I get more information on him.

Prospect Spotlight:

My star this week is Matt Anderson. He was called up to the Devils for a short time and only registered one point, but since he was sent back to Albany he has been shining. As noted above, he was the AHL player of the week for the period ending February 10. He only has 10 goals on the season, but three of those came this past week. Hopefully his hot streak continues.

That will do it for the recap this week. Do you think Boucher has it in him to pass by Stamkos for the Sting goal scoring record? Does Stepanov have what it takes to stay with the Devils? What are your thoughts on Anderson being named AHL player of the week? Please discuss anything prospect related below. Thanks for reading!
