New Jersey Devils vs. New York Rangers: Gamethread #8

The New Jersey Devils need a win. They have not won a game yet. Their opponents tonight are Our Hated Rivals, the New York Rangers. Talk about how the Devils are or are not getting a win in the comments here before, during, and after the game.

The Time: 7:00 PM EDT

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Radio - 660 AM / 101.9 FM WFAN

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (0-4-3) vs. the New York Rangers (2-4-0; SBN Blog: Blueshirt Banter)

The Previews: My preview from earlier this morning is right here. For the opposition's perspective, please check out Bryan Winters' preview at Blueshirt Banter.

A Song for Tonight: This is "Driven by Anger" by Broflex. The band sounds like a band named Broflex should sound. This is appropriate for a rivalry game.

Game Night Info: Tom Gulitti reported at Fire & Ice earlier today that Patrik Elias was sick and missed this morning's skate and that Damien Brunner left during it. As a result, Elias is doubtful and Brunner is a gametime decision. That's a far bigger deal than the defense. Elias does it all and he's been a big positive for the offense. Brunner has been quiet in recent games but that's one fewer weapon up front. Rostislav Olesz was skating in Elias' place this morning so if Elias can't play, then I think he'll be in. As for Brunner, I can only guess that Andrei Loktionov may come in? I just hope Elias and Brunner are healthy enough to play. The Devils aren't the only team in this game with a healthy scratch on defense. Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record tweeted in this first and second tweet that Michael Del Zotto will sit out tonight's game; Alain Vigneault will keep Justin Falk on the third pairing.

A Reminder of Rules: This is a place where you can comment about this game before, during, and after it's played before the recap is up. This is a place where we primarily discuss the Devils game. An odd mention of other NHL games is OK, but it shouldn't dominate discussion. All comments will be clean, respectful of each other, relevant to the game, and legal (read: no illegal streams, don't ask for/tell about one). Please refrain from posting large pictures and .gifs as well so the comments don't slow down.

This will be open until a recap of this game is up later tonight. My own commentary and tweets will be sparse as I'll be at the game in Section 1, Row 16, Seat 5. Go Devils!
